Functional Genomics Core Work Study Student Research Assistant Position - Application Deadline
Are you a first-year or second-year looking for paid research? Interested in molecular biology and DNA?
The University of Arizona's Functional Genomics Core (FGC) provides researchers at the U of A and across Southern Arizona with the tools and expertise to conduct high-throughput biology including; compound, RNAi, and deletion library-based screens for the purpose of drug discovery, target identification, or network analysis. We collaborate with researchers to develop assays, carry out screens, and analyze data. The FGC has an assortment of state-of-the-art instrumentation to conduct elaborate research pipelines at small, intermediate, and large scales.
What are details of the Research Assistant Position?
- Must be detail-orientated, well-organized, and dependable

- Biology, Molecular Cellular Biology, or related major
- Responsibilities include: basic lab cleaning, prep work (dish washing and autoclave), assisting with equipment maintenance, and consumable inventory, etc. In addition, students will learn molecular biology skills and techniques including: cell culture, assay design and optimization, laboratory automation, and high-throughput biology. Assistants will be able to provide laboratory support and learn molecular biology techniques.
What are the expected hours?
- Summer: part-time to full-time (depends on student's schedule)
- Fall & Spring Semester: 10/hrs per week
