Dmitriy is an assistant professor of government and the principal investigator of the Aspiring Powers Initiative, a multi-year research effort aimed at examining the evolution of revisionist powers, such as China and Russia. In addition to studying the foreign policies of aspiring powers, Dmitriy’s research focuses on the determinants of conflict initiation and termination and has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals, including Global Studies Quarterly and Social Science Quarterly. Currently, he is working on a book project that investigates how state capacity affected Ukraine's ability to defy expectations in its war against Russia. Before joining the faculty at the University of Arizona, Dmitriy held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Fletcher School at Tufts University and a predoctoral fellowship at the Davis Center at Harvard University.
