U of A Graduate College’s UROC–Prep Program is a year-round undergraduate research and mentoring program for U of A students who have faced challenges to graduate education, and have interest in pursuing a research-oriented graduate degree (Master’s or PhD). This program offers an outstanding opportunity to learn how to conduct research and prepare for graduate studies. The program is fully sponsored by the University of Arizona Graduate College. UROC-Prep participants have gone on to graduate programs at both the University of Arizona and other prestigious universities. Many have already obtained a graduate degree.
The purpose of UROC-Prep is to:
- provide an opportunity to work with U of A faculty (and their graduate students) on a research project
- strengthen academic skills
- provide students with a summer-paid stipend of $5,000
- provide an understanding of the approaches, issues, and research methodologies in participants' chosen field of study
- encourage participants to consider advanced study in the discipline of your choice at the University of Arizona
- prepare students to be competitive in the graduate application process and beyond
- enhance leadership skills through personal development workshops and interaction with peers
- work through the graduate application as students are applying to schools for admittance
Timeline: This program begins in the spring semester of participants' junior year and runs through the summer and into the fall of the students' senior year.
