Equitable Agriculture and Environmental Management Program - Application Deadline

Are you a junior and senior wanting to get into paid research? Interested in environmental sciences?

With collaboration of the UArizona and the UC Santa Barbara, the Equitable Agriculture and Environmental Management Summer Program is recruiting 4 undergraduate students of either junior or senior status for a two-year paid research and internship program. Together, the UCSB and the UofA are working towards building sustainability and justice concerns into STEM education in agriculture with a specific focus on recruiting, retaining, and supporting underrepresented (UR) students. This comprehensive program includes summer coursework, career development, learning communities, and internships for undergraduate students and support for graduate students from underrepresented backgrounds pursuing Master's or Ph.D. degrees.

If accepted, participants are then invited to a paid 2-week summer intensive workshop to learn from leading experts in environmental sciences and agricultural economics from August 8 - August 24, 2024 before they are matched to an internship program with a partner organization that best aligns with their research goals and career aspirations.

What are the benefits?

  • Summer Scholarship: Scholarships are offered for students to attend the 2-week summer intensive camp, if indicated on their application. 
  • Paid Internship: Students will be continue into a paid internship for the next two years with a partner organization, such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture, non-profit organization, agricultural business, etc, depending on the preference.
  • Technical Skills: Participants will learn skills in programming, GIS & visualization, and data science.
  • Career Development Workshops: Students will also gain individualized advice and classes on resumes, interviewing, and applying to jobs & other internships.
